Papua Merdeka: Towards Freedom in West Papua

Papua Merdeka: Towards Freedom in West Papua

Benny Wenda, Nobel Peace nominee will talk about the West Papuan struggle for independence, and the 5 year plan to make merdeka (freedom) a reality. Tribal peoples of West Papua are engaged in a struggle for freedom. The occupation by Indonesia is brutal and undemocratic and sustains environmentally-destructive mining by multinationals. Natalie Smith brings testaments from refugees in PNG and will lead a discussion about solidarity for this courageous movement.
